Description

The Accu-Chek Instant Blood Glucose Meter makes blood sugar testing quick, accurate, and effortless. With its large, backlit display, you can instantly see if your readings are high, low, or within range. Designed for convenience, it includes a hygienic test strip ejector for easy removal and connects seamlessly to the mySugr® app via Bluetooth. This allows automatic result logging, visual glucose charts, and personalised insights to help you better manage your diabetes.

How to Test Your Blood Sugar

  1. Wash and dry your hands thoroughly.
  2. Insert a compatible Accu-Chek test strip into your meter.
  3. Use a sterile lancing device to prick your fingertip and produce a small drop of blood.
  4. Touch the drop to the test strip edge.
  5. Your result will appear in about 5 seconds on the display.

Dispose of the test strip after each use — never reuse it. Tracking your readings regularly helps you understand your glucose trends and maintain control.

What is Blood Glucose Monitoring?

Blood glucose monitoring is an essential part of diabetes care, especially for people taking insulin or sulphonylureas. It helps you determine when to eat, adjust medication, or plan physical activity. Maintaining stable glucose levels supports overall wellbeing and helps prevent long-term diabetes complications.

What is a Healthy Blood Sugar Level?

Target glucose ranges vary depending on your type of diabetes and whether you’re testing before or after meals. According to Diabetes UK, here are the general guidelines:

Children with Type 1 Diabetes

  • Before meals: 4 to 7 mmol/L

  • After meals: 5 to 9 mmol/L

Adults with Type 1 Diabetes

  • Upon waking and before meals: 5 to 7 mmol/L

  • Before other meals: 4 to 7 mmol/L

People with Type 2 Diabetes

  • Before meals: 4 to 7 mmol/L

  • Two hours after meals: Under 8.5 mmol/L

Gestational Diabetes (During Pregnancy)

  • Fasting: Below 5.3 mmol/L

  • One hour after meals: Below 7.8 mmol/L

  • Two hours after meals (if unable to test after one hour): Below 6.4 mmol/L

What is the Best Time to Check Blood Sugar?

To get consistent and meaningful readings, link your testing to routine activities. The best times to check are:

  • Before meals (breakfast, lunch, dinner)

  • After exercise

  • Before bedtime

Testing before meals gives the most accurate fasting glucose levels. If you miss that window, wait at least two hours after eating before testing to ensure accuracy.
